Beyond the traditional brick and mortar speed dating
parties, Winkvid a Chicago based
company, has expanded on the old model by
creating a site which streams live face-to-face video. The concept is the same;
meet 10+ women, only via the web from the comfort of your home through what
they call a “WinkUp,”. In essences it’s a one-hour speed-dating event that
places you in four-minute video conversations with singles in your area. The
event takes place at a specific time — 8 p.m. EST on June 20, for example. Just
log in before the event starts and make sure your camera is working, and you’ll
get connected with your potential matches. Currently, only in Chicago, this can
easily be expanded to other states.
Outside of the efficiency, you and your potential lady
friend are assured that you (or she) have not digitally enhanced pictures or
exaggerated that facebook profiles—not that you would exaggerate your profile
to attract a woman!
